Academy at Edison
The Middlesex County Academy for Science, Mathematics and Engineering Technologies, a school of choice which focuses on Pre-Engineering studies driven by a rigorous college preparatory curriculum, has entered its tenth year of operation as a specialized high school.
Curriculum
The collaborative and innovative curriculum was designed in partnership with Middlesex County College. Students select career majors in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technologies or Civil and Mechanical Engineering Technologies. Academic programs include four years of study in each of the following disciplines: Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Language Arts/Communications, Social Sciences, Health and Physical Education, World Languages, and Electives.
Cutting-Edge Learning Environment
Located on the campus of Middlesex County College, the Academy has 21st century instructional areas that feature state-of-the-art advanced technology, including: computers, digital still cameras, digital video cameras, a multi-media presentation studio and an electronic and networked media center. At the Academy, each instructional area is wired for voice, data and video technology with computer labs located between academic classrooms. Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum.
Preparation for the Future
In addition to completing New Jersey’s high school graduation requirements, students are afforded the opportunity to earn college credits during their four years through the Middlesex County College High School Scholars Program. With the inauguration of the Academy, the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools have closed the gap in preparing students for career paths that exceed the high school, job entry level.
