Admissions Process:
1. Attend an Admissions Information Session.
2. Submit an online application and $25 non-refundable fee.
3. Attend an Interview with program personnel.
4. Submit official documentation of high school education.
5. Programs start on Tuesday, September 7, 2010.
Certificate Programs are designed for individuals interested in changing careers, starting a career or looking to change classifications or acquire new skills within a career area. Successful completers of a sequence of courses are prepared to earn a certificate and in some cases credit hours earned may be applied to a registered apprenticeship program.

COMPUTER APPLICATIONS FOR BUSINESS CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (180 Sessions)
The Computer Applications for Business Certificate Program prepares the student for entry-level employment. The program offers beginning level students the opportunity to learn a full range of skills needed in the business setting. Students will learn on the latest technology and software geared to industry standards. The certificate program is designed for individuals interested in changing careers as well as those who are looking for first time employment in the field. Successful completers will earn a certificate. Curriculum includes instruction in the following courses: PC Fundamentals, Microsoft Word, Keyboarding, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, Website Design, Accounting, QuickBooks and Portfolio Development. Classes meet Monday through Friday at the East Brunswick Campus. Interested students can apply online. Upon receipt of your application, you will be scheduled for an interview.
C-TECH® TELECOMMUNICATIONS CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (90 Sessions)
The C-Tech® Certificate Program prepares the student for entry-level employment as an installer in the telecommunications industry. It is designed for individuals interested in changing careers as well as those who are looking for first time employment in the field. The successful completer earns nationally recognized credentials in cabling and home theater installation. Curriculum includes instruction in the following courses: Electrical Trades Circuits – Residential Wiring to NEC Code, C-Tech® Tier 1 Introduction to Telecommunications, C-Tech® Tier 2 Introduction to Network Cabling Copper-Based, C-Tech® Tier 3 Introduction to Network Cabling Fiber Optic, C-Tech® Introduction to Home Entertainment Residential Audio/Video Systems, and Electronic Devices and Circuits – AC/DC Principles. Prerequisite: One year of algebra. Classes meet Wednesday through Saturday at the East Brunswick Campus. Interested students can apply online. ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (180 Sessions)
This Electrical Technology Certificate Program prepares the student for entry-level employment within the electrical trades. It is designed for individuals interested in changing careers as well as those who are looking for first time employment in the field. Eight modules include classroom and hands-on instruction, field trips and seminars. Successful completers obtain an OSHA card and credit hours earned may be applied to the related instruction component of a registered apprenticeship program. Curriculum includes a program orientation and instruction in the following courses: Multi Craft Basics; Alternating Current Loads; Magnetism, Conductors & Insulators; Motor Controls; Tools & Supports: Electrical; Transformers & Motors; and Electrical Circuits. Classes meet Monday through Friday at the Piscataway Campus. Interested students can apply online. Upon receipt of your application, you will be scheduled for an interview.
HEAT, VENTILATION, AIR CONDITIONING & REFRIGERATION
CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (180 Sessions)
The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Certificate Program prepares the student for entry-level positions in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance. It is designed for individuals interested in changing careers as well as those who are looking to change classifications or acquire new skills within this field. Successful completers earn an OSHA Card and Refrigerant Handling certification. Credit hours earned may be applied to the related instruction component of a registered apprenticeship program. Curriculum includes a program orientation and instruction in the following courses: Multi-Craft Basics; AC Basics & Refrigerants; Sheet Metal Basics; Domestic Appliances; Heating Fundamentals, and Principles of Refrigeration. HOME INSPECTION CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (90 Sessions)
The Home Inspection Certificate Program prepares you for the New Jersey Home Inspector Licensure Exam. The ten-module program is required as a prerequisite for licensing as a New Jersey Home Inspector. Course fee includes registration, materials and assessment fees. Textbooks are not included in the fee. Students are required to purchase their own textbooks. The curriculum includes instruction in the following courses: Structure Inspection, Roofing Inspection, Electrical Inspection, Heating Inspection I, Heating Inspection II, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps Inspection, Plumbing Inspection, Exterior Inspection, Interior and Insulation Inspection, Communication and Professional Practice. Prerequisite: High school diploma or equivalent for licensure. Classes meet on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturdays at the East Brunswick Campus. Interested students can apply online. MANICURIST (90 sessions)
Successful completion of the 300 hour course of instruction in manicuring qualifies students to take the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling Manicuring Exam. The curriculum includes theory and clinical instruction in the following courses: State Law Rules and Regulations and the State Board Exam; Professionalism; Safety and Health; Sanitation and Bacteria; Manicure and Pedicure; Disease and Disorders of the Heel and Foot; Anatomy of Hand, Arm, Foot and Leg; Skin, Depilatories, Nail Tips and Extensions; Nail Wraps, Nail Gels, Sculptured Nail Acrylic, Nail Art; First Aid, Chemicals and Chemistry; and Salon Management. Fees do not include textbooks & kit. Pre-requisite: High school diploma or equivalent for licensure. The program starts in September and February of each school year. PHARMACY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (90 Sessions)
Pharmacy technicians help licensed pharmacists provide medication and other health care products to patients. Technicians usually perform routine tasks to help prepare prescribed medication for patients, such as counting tablets and labeling bottles. The Pharmacy Technician program consists of classroom theory and lab practice. Curriculum includes a program orientation and instruction in the following courses: PTCB National Certification Preparation, Medical Terminology, and Computer Applications. The program starts in September and February of each school year. Classes meet in the evening, Monday through Friday at the Piscataway Campus. Interested students can apply online. PLUMBING TECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (180 Sessions)
The Plumbing Technology Certificate Program prepares the student for entry-level employment within the plumbing trades. It is designed for individuals interested in changing careers as well as those who are looking for first time employment in the field. Students participate in classroom and hands-on instruction, field trips and seminars. Successful completers obtain an OSHA Card and credit hours earned may be applied to the related instruction component of a registered apprenticeship program. Curriculum includes a program orientation and instruction in the following courses: Multi-Craft Basics; AC Basics & Refrigerants; Pumps & Transit; Drainage In Single Family Dwellings; Plumbing A House & Inspections; Potable Water & Appliances; and Tools & Supports: Plumbing. SKIN CARE SPECIALIST/ ESTHETICIAN (180 Sessions)
Successful completion of the 600 hour course of instruction in Skin Care qualifies students to take the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling: Skin Care Specialist Exam. The curriculum includes theory and clinical instruction in the following courses: Skin Care Treatments (Facials); Skin Analysis And Skin Care Products; Make-Up and Paraffin Treatments; State Law - Rules And Regulations; Safety; Bacteriology; Anatomy; Physiology; Nutrition; and Business Practices. Class size is limited. Prerequisite: High school diploma or equivalent for licensure. Classes meet in the evening, Monday through Friday at the Piscataway Campus.
