Time’s Up is a “smart” alarm clock that applies motion sensing. The sensor used is the Microsoft Kinect. The PC is connected to the Kinect and an Arduino via USB. A projector displays the program. Programming of the Kinect is performed using the Microsoft Kinect for Windows SDK, (Software Development Kit), package.
The system is able to recognize certain user gestures that control its functions. The two primary functions are setting and disabling the alarm clock. Setting the alarm is simpler than shutting it off in terms of the complexity of the gestures. Once the user sets the alarm, the product enters “sleep mode” until time is up. The user is woken by a sound; this sound will only stop after the user inputs the gestures matching the projection.
