Academy Seniors Clean Local Stream

Academy seniors cleaned up a section of the Mill Brook stream in Heller Industrial Park, Edison. They removed debris including the wheel of a truck and remnants of a whole bicycle. The classes, led by Academy science teacher Dr. Michael Ricketts, also undertook preliminary tests to kick off their AP Environmental Science project to monitor the health of this stream through biological and chemical testing over the course of the school year. Supporting the cleanup was the Edison town council, Dr. Heather Fenyk of the Lower Raritan Watershed Partnership, and Katee Meckeler (Americorps Watershed ambassador, pictured on left).
