On March 30, 2019, the Math League hosted the first annual MCAMC (MCA Math Competition), a team-based math competition for middle school students. 174 middle school students across 35 teams from 14 schools participated. Participants competed in Individual and Team Rounds in the morning, and events finished off with a Live Round in the afternoon, where they competed with their scores being updated in real-time.
The top 3 teams overall were (1) Monroe Math, (2) JAMS 1 (from John Adams Middle School), and (3) Sine Me Up (from Woodrow Wilson Middle School). The top 3 individuals were (1) Emily Bai (from Monroe Math), (2) Aarush Desai (from Monroe Math), and (3) Pranav Sitaraman (from JAMS 1). These teams and individuals received awards and prizes courtesy of Art of Problem Solving and Rubik's. Additional awards were given to 4th-6th place individuals, as well as the top 3 teams in the Team and Live Rounds.
More information and full results of the competition are available at www.mcamath.com/mcamc. A huge thank you to MCC, Art of Problem Solving, Rubik's, our custodial staff, our administrative staff, Math League advisers, and our 20+ volunteers for helping make MCAMC possible. It was a tremendous success and we hope everyone will look forward to it again next year!
